Mafex Darth Vader – Rogue One version – Announcement

Well, well, well, look at who we have here again. Darth Vader is getting another 6 inch iteration and this time Mafex went with the Rogue One design. I don’t really understand why the Rogue One versions of Darth Vader figures all seem to get the chest armor wrong (in that it should be like A New Hope styled => his robes over his armor and his shoulder plates silver and black).

At least they got the helmet right and it looks like it’s going to be the best 1/12 Vader headsculpt (specifically ANH version) we’ve got so far. Personally I think that may be reason enough to get him and there is always the possibility to customize the figure for 100% accuracy so it’s not really a big deal.

The helmet itself isn’t 100% flawless either, but the problem isn’t really noticeable from frontal poses. I feel like the dome is a little going a little to far forward to be 100% accurate, but if the dome is removable, I think that this could be an easy fix as well.

He will release in August 2017, however this date may change. He will be priced at 5800 yen, which is about 50 euros/dollars.

As a reminder for the interested people, the Hologram version (ROTJ design) will release in December and the ROTS version will release in February 2017. Expect these to be releasing  near the end of their respective month.

You can see these and other releases on the official Medicom Mafex website.
