Bandai has officially announced that Hawkeye (Age of Ultron) from the S.H. Figuarts line will see the light of day sometime “soon”, more specifically January 2017. The negative side however is that it is a exclusive figure.
Pre-orders are up as of today. I’ve seen only Nippon-Yasan having the figure available yet, but that might change in the next few days. Also take the fact that this is an exclusive figure into consideration, so if you really want him, you’ll have to be fast. Another side effect (of being exclusive) is his price. He’s definitely a bit pricier than other regular figures from the line, standing at around 6940 yen (about 62 euros or 65 USD).
Anyway, now that we went through these facts, let’s see what the figure looks like and if we can justify buying this figure.
First of all, I would like to address that this is a pretty cool/good looking figure. The face is a bit off in these product shots, but usually it will look a bit different in person, because of the technique they use to ‘paint’ the figure. The face uses, just as with all the recent realistic human characters, a special printing technology. This makes sure that the face is as close to the actor’s likeness as possible (in this scale).
I also like the fact that they chose this specific outfit. It is my favorite MCU Hawkeye outfit. So if they will only release this Hawkeye figure, he at least will have one of his coolest outfits.
I also really like what they are doing here with the accessories. They did a really smart move by making the hands attached to the bow and making a molded, drawn bow. This is much more interesting for poseability and the looks of the figure in action. The quiver also seems to be a cool accessory.
We have not yet seen other hands, but I expect we’ll get the usual (fisted hands, open hands, and then specific bow/arrow holding hands.
Poseability wise, I suspect that it will be pretty good, but maybe the coat might hinder his legs a bit. We’ll have to wait and see how that turns out.
Overall I’d say it’s a pretty cool looking figure, and might be the best 6″ Hawkeye figure we’ve seen so far. For the Hawkeye fans, I definitely suggest you pick this guy up as soon as you can, because he will only go up in price and be harder to find, the longer you wait.
Is there anything I missed or something you want to know/see more about?
